How does REACH affect suppliers?

• Pre-register substances at the European Chemicals Agency between June 1 and
  December 1, 2008 if the volume produced or imported is 1 tonne or more per year and per legal entity
• Commence registration of substances from June 1, 2008
• Identify all uses of the chemical substance
• Create Exposure Scenarios and recommendations of risk management measures
• Communicate the Exposure Scenarios down the supply chain via Safety Data Sheets

Options of a Non-EU manufacturer

• Provide each importer of your substances located in the EU with the data and information necessary for (pre-)registration
• Alternatively appoint an ‘Only Representative’ established in the EU to fulfil the obligations of an importer
